The end of Bots?

The end of Bots? The problem about rules are that they will be broken. Anamka probably can't check every single player to see if they are breaking the rules. And anyway the person who suffers the most is you, the average Dofus player. Although I rarely see people swearing and abusing others I really hate bots!!!

Here is my solution to this problem.

If you think a player is abusive or suspect him of being a bot then you click on him and from that menu that appears click Report Player. The Player will then be asked to pass a CAPTCHA test within a limited time. If this fails he will get a ban for example 3 hours. The more bans you get the more time you will get banned until eventually your character will get deleted. However, if the test is passes he will be reported to Anamka.

This is my idea to solve the problem of not only bots but general rule breakers.

The problem is that this could very easily be abused againt normal players. For example if a monster suddenly spawns, or a Brak/Bonta suddenly appears, the captcha could be activated to stop that player in his tracks.

The only way something like this would work would be is there was some kind of penalty for falsely accusing a player of being a bot. That way people wouldn't go around doing it without know they would be punished. But even that could be abused by somebody creating a F2P account just to annoy people.

No, I proposed a more complete answer a long time ago. One which does not impact players in any way, and can stop bots from working each and every time. It's a technical solution.... Packet Encryption.

It's the sort of thing I do day-in-day-out given the fact that I work for a certain mobile phone company that specialises in secure communicatons. Bot software would be unable to inject their commands into the packet stream, effectively killing them on the spot. They also wouldn't be able to modify the software whilst in memory so they could get in that way either.

Nice thought though. But not a good enough solution.

I play up to 4 characters and I often idle a lot on some of them. I'd rather not end up banned due to peope spamming CAPTCHAs at them.

If you only do it at logon it will have no purpose and can be easily worked around.
