This penalises more active players, so I can't see it being popular. It would also produce lots of dormant p2p accounts, which might be a problem. |

I Actually think it's a rather good idea, mainly because if you suddenly have to go somewhere for a few days/weeks or you go on holiday, you can come back knowing that you'll still have the same amount of P2P time left as when you first departed.

It would also be nice only to pay rent on your flat while you are actually there and not do so during work/school hours and holidays. However, life just doesn't work like that and the provider of a service, be it a game or real estates or anything else, simply could not survive or would have to raise the service charge accordingly to make up for the loss. It is always easy to say 'why don't you do it like this or that' from the point of view of the service receiver. But if you are the one providing the service, the situation looks completely different. Maybe you folks will be at some point in your later life in a position where you provide a service to other people. You'll then see that it isn't always about 'making money' but much more often about 'survival' or 'feasibility'.

Short version? Because they'd have to charge at least three times as much as they do now to make up the difference. Probably more. For example, say you pay for a week, or 7*24 = 168 hours. Since I gather you play only five hours a day, that would last 168/5 = 33 days + 3 hours. There's no way they could charge the same amount for what is effectively a month-long subscription as you're paying now for a one-week subscription, even if it is the same amount of hours, and still stay in business. It's like cable television. They don't care whether you have the TV on or off, you still have to pay for the entire month. This post has been edited by Darkstorm: 30 Sep 2009, 03:58 |

It would also ruin the social aspect of the game in that people would be less happy to stay around and chat, because the timer would be running! Plus any time the phone rings, or whatever, they would log off, then log back on 2 minutes later, causing yet more pressure on the poor login servers. Sorry, nice idea, but it doesn't work for me.

maybe they could do it as in you can pause your member ship you have to be inactive for say a week long or a couple days and it freezes but if your not back within a certain amount of days it unfreezes and you then have to re-subscribe. OR sometime like that you have to give a reason why and say for how long and they chooses wether or not its applicable
