the reason i followed the link was because it was posted by a guild member and someone i trusted who's account must have been compromised, i realise i'm not going to get any of my items back and i am ok with that but i'm wondering if there is any added security that can be done, like as i have read in another post, regestering an ip address and having to enter a specific code when you change your ip address (the code would be specific to each person and can be generic made not own choice) i know there's not much that can be done but it has to be noticed that people will go to sites if they are directed there by people they trust and know thinking they are good websites. just my thought's plus i wanted to warn others that there is someone out there at the moment performing this scam.

Indeed, and i thank you for posting this and drawing it to other players attention.
The system does put a [Warning!] ( which then links to a support page ) when ever anyone gives out a URL And the golden rule is, Never ever use your account ID and Password on any other site otherthan your dofus client, and the dofus.com site , or any official links that are provided on the official dofus.com site This is a good reminder to all players, as this is how the scam works, someone will gain access to an account, and then pm those they find on the friends list or spam the /g about the site Just remember the golden rule Vahlara i am sorry you have been caught out by this scam Themis x -------------------- Important and Useful Links Support <<>> Terms of Service <<>> Forum Rules <<>> Community Site <<>> Game Guide |

Also keep your browser up to date, run decent anti-vir software eg Avira and double check that any site you've been referred to that asks for your login details uses the official domain eg dofus.com.
And never ever share your account. Roughly 1 in 3 get 'hacked' in my experience. Personally, I'd like a switch so that I can actually click on URLs. Send it through Ankama's website if you must (and automatically check malware site lists). And make /selection on default (ie if you click-drag something that isn't an item/link) and not screw up your chat window. |
