You have to prepare the meat you get from drops in order to gain experience in the hunter profession. As you can only do 2 slot recipes to start with you need to fight tofu, larvas and moskito. Once you have a nice collection of meats you can then prepare them to level the profession.
Once you reach lvl 10 hunter you can use a new hunter weapon if you want and can now hunt black and white gobbly's and drop gobbal legs. These are a 3 slot recipe so you will find you level a bit faster. Once you hit level 20 you can then hunt normal gobbals and also wabbits to drop meat. All the resources needed to prepare the meat can either be dropped as well (painful and slow way) or purchased from these npc's, Aga Dou at Amakna Village (1,1), Seth Sourcet at Astrub (1,-16), Connie Vini at Bonta (-35,-59), Roca Charmed at Brakmar (-26,34). You can check the wiki for further information http://www.wikia.com/dofus/Hunter/Gathering Hope that helps. P.S It is now possible to make any weapon a hunter weapon with maging. Craft and crush about 10-20 of the weapons with the hunter speciality and you should get a hunter rune and then you can mage that onto your every day weapon just like you would mage a stat. So far I have had 100% success rate on this but I do know others who have failed the mage so you may need more than one rune. |

Thanks very much!
I wonder if anyone has seen anywhere online a clear chart with gathering and which lvl this is available and preserving and the corresponding lvl, if not I'll probably just make one! |

By the way, if you ever consider quitting because farming is easier... don't!
the meat that high level bosses drop gives charecteristic points :3 The hunter is hard, but worth it generally.. I wish I could say the same for Fisherman -.- |
