Mound is the name of an Enutrof spell, gained at 13th level. I don't think it has any other significance anywhere else in the game. I don't know what you saw it in reference to.

As for pets, they can be found in many places around the game, but for one of the first, you'll have to leave Incarnam and venture north of Astrub...

(Also, please don't triple-post. If you want to add something to your post and nobody has yet replied, use "Edit", not "Reply")

Welcome to the game! :)

I've a feeling that you are in fact talking of a "mount" ? In which case you'll have to wait as they are not available at the moment.
But once a certain area gets opened (Koalak mountains, IIRC) you'll be able to go capture one for yourself and then train it. Of course you'll be able to buy it from other people. A new job will also become available that will allow people to build all sorts of devices used to train the mounts.
Anyway, it's not out yet, so I guess we all need to be a little more patient :-P
