Do Summoners Stats Matter?

Do Summoners Stats Matter? Hello there! im pretty new, but been playing an Osa so thought id ask a little more.

Now i know that AP lets you summon more summons, and Vitality lets you last longer... but is there anything else?

Does my Int mean my pets spells are better, or my Str mean my pets hit harder for physical damage?

The problem ive got at the moment is the pet buff spells are capped - they get to a certain level of benefit, then cant go much higher... at low levels this wont matter, but at high levels, if gear has little impact, then my pets reach caps that they cant improve at, and thats a little worrying.

Ive played other games where pet classes reach these "caps", and then find it hard to carry on with the class, due to the pet not scaling in the same way that other classes do with gear.

Any info or help would be appreciated! even if Int just buffs bear cry for example, it would be good to know!

Your stats don't affect the stats of your summons.

As you level up, they gain 1% to their stats for each level, so at level 100 all your summon will have double the stats they had when you were level 1 (of course you can't summon most of them at level 1, but that's beside the point).

Some summons like the gobball and Tofu, once leveled to 6, can be summoned multiple times per turn (if you have enough AP to do so). It could be difficult to kill an army of summoned creatures no matter how good the creature's (or person's) stats you're fighting. xD

*nods* i can understand about all that side of thing.... but in that case, does + damage gear really make no diffence to what my pets do? Will my toad ALWAYS prevent the same amount of damage no matter what my stats? Will bear cry always buff for the same bonus damage? if so, i cant see myself using toad to prevent 10 damage when later a creature might be hitting for 300 or more!?

Do the stats really matter to the pets and things, or is it all about stacking AP like crazy with + summons to make a horde, and thats about it?

Your summons have base stats.

For example one of them may have 100 Intelligence which would double the damage reduction of Toad. Instead of 10 it would then do 20 reduction.

Further to that the base stats are boosted by your level. For example if you are level 100, your summon's stats are boosted 100% so it would be infact 200 Intelligence which would reduce a further 10 on that Toad. This would then be reducing 30 damage.

Also it's useful to note that Buffs can be stacked, especially Bear's Cry which has infinite duration on a summon. You may only be boosting 8-9 Dmg onto your summon but do that 10x over the duration of a fight and that 80-90 dmg per hit extra.

Part of being a good summoner is how you keep your summons alive and how you buff your summons (and keep them buffed over a fight). Raising your Int is helpful in the long run as it will allow you to heal your summons and also allow you to use the fairly decent direct damage spells your class has.

I have been using 3 osas for a while now and they can summon creatures that can handle multiple problems. Glutoblop too close? Boar + whip with next osa (so the gluto is more likely to eat one of his friends). Enemy boss has earth weakness? Crackler + constant buffing (my crackler often ends up doing 3 hits of 200+ damage per turn, Earth weakness or not). Lots of weaker enemies at a distance? Bwork magus + movement buff (works great for gobball dungeon).

Summons in and of themselves aren't that great, but once you buff them.. that's where the real power comes from. =D

I will admit though, if there are no fire resistant enemies then the red wyrmling is a very reliable damage provider, doing roughly 175 damage per hit, to each creature. He can't hit an enemy more than once per round, but if you have many foes then he is very good at wearing them down. Especially if given multiple buffs (especially movement, considering his 3 base movement).
