As Oamoka stated, the Test Server's ultimate purpose is to test all aspects of the latest update in its entity. The reason for it staying up a month or two after the update's actual release is because it's much easier to find bugs through universal command over the game, as seen by all Zaaps accessed (and some normally not), difficult to obtain gear being very cheap, and potions which bring you to the boss of a dungeon. Once everything is guaranteed bug-free, or to Ankama's standards, the server shuts down until next update. Running a server costs money, and not enough people actually pay just specifically so they can play on the Test Server. Because of that, it's Ankama's way of saving money, and placing their resources into other projects. In contradiction to Oamoka, the Test Server is a lot of fun compared to classic servers. Much higher leveled competition in terms of PvP elements and a much wider variety of opponents made PvP for fun me, unlike the normal server. And a huge array of other reasons that I otherwise shouldn't delve into.

F*** all that bullshit :/
They should be freakin happy with us.. Ukno they get hundreds or even thousands of dollar/euro w/e in just from ppl who get p2p to play on test server.. Thats fair to you? Many people asked for a server like that for real (Permanent) Cuz we like that more.. Whats their problem.. Its the most crowded server.. which means around 50% of the People who play this game like the Test server.. And they close it pff, We pay you for this guys.. Give us the server! Get real guys! And make it a real server! This post has been edited by RoughstyleR-: 22 Oct 2009, 21:13 |

Get real guys! And make it a real server! I think it's inherent in the name, it won't be a real server because it's for testing out changes before it go on to the main game. The idea that it has the highest population is almost nonsensical. It's a single server doing a single thing. There are a number of other servers running the normal game which have a combined population greater then the test server. There is no direct comparison. If Ankama is using the test server resources for something else (like Dofus 2.0 Beta) then it's perfectly within their means to turn over those resources for that other use. If a test server is more fun than the real game, don't you think the real game is somehow failing in its duty?
I think most people enjoy beta/test servers because the game constantly changes (keeps fresh) and there's no expectation of being stuck with a character so you can play much more freely. A good game tends to be able to keep itself fresh and free-flowing without regular changes in the mechanics and wipes. |

Don't quote me, as I am not certain of the source but I have been told repeatedly that the test server is also limited capacity compared to "real" servers so that is why it takes a long time to log in, to do stuff etc and so forth...not because it is "overcrowded"
Basically the people who want to play ONLY on the test server seem to just want something without putting the work into it. I don't know where their sense of accomplishment comes from having everything handed to them on a silver platter but...yeah Ankama is not going to give you guys a test server to get free "accomplishments". |

When you get nothing from a normal server sometimes its fun to be able to get something (free money is one of them things) we are still paying for the game not like its f2p and if you dont think test server is packed you have never been on it before even if it does have a limit its got to get high when there are as many people on there as ive seen

Yes there could be loads of people logging in, but that does not mean that the test servers are chock full of people who want to play permanently there. I can not log in as I have never been able to get it to work on my computer (have silly satelite so can't download willy nilly as I have a limit put in place by my internet provider yay for living in the country) but I know when there is a new version coming out I am often times over at my Sister's house to test out the new features....and Imps Village is full of people who use the test servers for what they are intended for, to test things out. Doesn't mean that there are as many people wanting easy leveling etc and so forth as there are on regular servers. |

I think you need to stop questioning the fact that the real server is so much slower, and question where your ideas are. Apparently, you can't function in a real server due to the fact that things don't come instantaneous to you and you have to actually put in... what's that word? Oh right, effort. The test server has higher rates so they can test all levels of the game, not just lowbie content. I think it is extremely ridiculous that there are people actually complaining about the fact that a test server isn't actually a "real" server. Leveling up to max level in 5 minutes is fun? Getting all your equipment handed to you is fun? Not needing to work for anything what-so-ever is fun? I suppose it is if you're one of the many people on this game and MMORPGs in general who like to do nothing but degrade people based on their level, equipment and skill (or lack of). I hope all of you impatient people stay on your test server, I'll gladly take the (somewhat) quality players in the "real" servers over you any day. |

Test server does not have higher rates where did you get that from? maybe your right about my just wanting to get max lvl fast as i mostly only play on game servers that have way higher rates then the normal servers do
Just because i want something faster makes me a bad player? i guess im a bad player then |

Lol for the people that think test server is just a test server and that you have to earn
and blah blah accomplishments should get an actual life. It's a GAME. Entertainment. If you wanna play it spend hours and wasting your life "EARNING you ACCOMPLISMENTS" lol go ahead no one cares Majorty of us are playing just to have fun and enjoy the "GAME" Getting hax equipment and being powerful with less of the time consuming years of doing it. For a gamer that's fun just playing and having fun. If I wanted years of working hard to get what I want i'll get a degree in college and getting a carrer and making money. Moral is ITS JUST A GAME have fun regardless normal server or test server. If you believe your working hard earning what you have on a game Just means u need to get out and find a job and earn what you ACTUALLY HAVE and what actual matters real life and just play dofus for FUN. P.S. TEST SERVER FTW!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to have FUN again on a GAME! |

P.S. TEST SERVER FTW!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to have FUN again on a GAME! I find entertainment in the things I do having some sort of value to them, rather than a meaningless 5 seconds to get everything I could ever want. Chess is a game. It requires time, strategy, effort, and knowledge. Football is a game, Basketball is a game. All which require effort to be put in in order to succeed. Does this mean it isn't enjoyable? Does this mean it isn't entertainment? Hell no. There is no fun in Football or Basketball when it is ridiculously easy to beat the other team. I mean, to some people it is. But, it is rather obvious that it isn't the game they are interested in, but the end result. The same can be said for Dofus. It is very obvious that the aspects of this game do not appeal to you if you can't enjoy them in their original setting. You enjoy gaining levels, gaining equipment, and being "better" than everyone else. It is FULFILLING to complete something difficult. But, today's generation really lacks the desire for self-fulfillment and achievement. It's all now now now, gimme gimme gimme. I can still have fun, entertainment, and enjoy Dofus even though I don't get things instantly or my way. This post has been edited by Athey: 23 Oct 2009, 05:59 |

We do put effort into it we have to level still you cant go on there and just be lvl 200 its normal server rates but you can just teleport to the end of dungs and since there are so many people on there you can leech without ever getting a party and gain lvls faster then normal
You have to wait 7 days (and be lvl 50) to get 500kk every weak since it would take years to get anykind of real money from monsters (people still buy drops cause all gear isn't in duty free) You still have to work for gear because there isn't a shop with all gear the shops only have some gear most rings/boots/belts/weapons/etc are not sold you have to drop/buy them Its not like the test server is auto lvl 200 with max money/maxed out gear we still have to work for it |

See that's the sad thing that I know your not the only one that feel's that way a game to me is just a game im not looking for fullfillment in it that would make me seem like a loser in my eyes. Lose or Win doesn't matter im just having fun and I don't know how old are you for saying this generation unless ur 50 years old i'm 25 so yeah anyway i'm done debating because I can see your to much living in your videogames then real life to sperate the differance. Btw everyone that plays on the test server obviously enjoy's the real server because im pretty sure everyone started on the actual server before they played on the test server. I'm one of the MANY that has fun on the actual server but it's MORE fun on the test server but you obviously won't understand that so just live in you videogames earn everything play it until your 100 for all I care because it wouldn't make a differance in life. GAMES are for FUN LIFE are for ACCOMPLISMENTS The End! DOFUS IS FUN! WEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! |
