Punitive Arrow *fix it please*
Dear Dofus and its Players,
The new Update 1.29 has slain the Strength Cra way of life. They have taken our pride and joy and turned it into nothing more then a lame version of Iop's Wrath. I speak of Punitive Arrow my dear friends. Preivious to 1.29 Puni arrow was a move based on crits. Now it has been knocked down, kicked, and spit on. Here is what was changed: Previous to 1.29 (Level 5-Punitive Arrow) AP Cost: 4 Range: 1-7 Critical Base: 1/40 Cooldown: None Base Damage: 1-30 Strength Damage Critical Damage: 1-100 Strength Damage 1.29 (Level 5-Punitive Arrow) AP Cost: 4 Range: 6-8 Critical Base: 1/30 Cooldown: 2 turns Base Damage: 25-27 Strength Damage (Increase Punitive Arrows Basic Damge by 26 {2 turns}) Critical Damage: 30-32 Strength Damage (Increase Punitive Arrows Basic Damge by 31 {2 turns}) Now you see. this huge nerf all in the name of making it more "reliable". If we as strength cras want reliable we would have used Destructive arrow as a main spell. Please Return our spell. I also would like to point out Str cras are lacking Close Combat Spells. Both Punitive Arrow and Destructive arrow are both 5-8 Range (Destructive) and 6-8 (Punitive Arrow). I really woulld like to see a fix to this over nerfing of an already hard off build. Please help support the cause and post with your like wise thoughts. Punitive arrow has fallen from its bow, help notch the shaft and send the arrow soring towards Redemption. -Rhokai- Rosal, Strength Cra (lvl 123) |

i completely agree >.< now that i see the huge change that happened from update 1.29, this is an insult. punitive arrow was an attack strength cras mainly used +crits for and changing it into a more "reliable" attack defeats the importance of +crits that several cras have worked hard to obtain. change it back!! o.o

you have to deal with it or quit. its not going to change back. look at what they did to sacs/xelors/fecas etc. they completely redid punishment and got rid of wise punishment, for xelors they nerfed ap rape FAR too much and put a stupid pointless no good 3 range min limit and fecas shields got ruined.
although i agree with your post its not going to change. they killed crit cras to buff fire cras. these people clearly do not think about all the different builds. |

And still:
Xelors have adapted without much problem to the 3 min. range Sacs have adapted without a problem to the removal of wise punish Fecas have adapted to the changes without a problem as well You will get over it. |

This is a huge change to the general strategy of most (?) Cras who just relied on double Puni. However, it is a small price to pay for the massive improvements that the class received in general with this update. Looking through the spell changes, the class has become a much better all-rounder than it ever was even if it has lost maximum damage of a certain build.

you have to deal with it or quit. You will get over it. What a nonsense. Str-Cras now don't have any spell to use when an enemy is closer than 5 squares since this idiotic minimum range. There are plenty of situations where you cannot keep distance without having an obstacle between the Cra and the target. Therefore retreat/dispersing is no option. Next issue is, that - in opposite to Iop's Wrath - the punitive arrow does not buff itself in base damage when used multiple times. I can provide you screenshots which is proving that issue: 1st hit (unbuffed): around 320 dmg 2nd hit (buffed with +38 base! dmg): 895 dmg 3rd hit (double buffed with +38 and additional +32 base dmg): 727 dmg - which is 23% less instead of 40% more. http://www.zelle-power.com/dofus/129punitive.png http://www.zelle-power.com/dofus/129punitive2.png http://www.zelle-power.com/dofus/129punitive3.png So i completely agree with the threadstarter: Str-Cras were severely f*cked because they have only 2 spells left to use, one of them not working as it should. (And karyuudan: You probably noticed yourself how bad Cras were back in the days when you still had your Shira. You probably would notice my points also, if you still would play it. But of course you would never admit we are right in our complaints.) This post has been edited by FesteringPit: 30 Sep 2009, 11:48 |

If you're complaining about the damage, you'll actually notice that it's much the same, if not more.
Pre 1.29, the average base damage of Punitive Arrow is 15. If you got a critical hit, the average base damage was 50. In 1.29, the average base damage of Punitive Arrow is now 26. If you get a critical hit, the average base damage is 31 (doesn't sound good, but just wait). After two turns have past, and you can cast it again, you now do 52 base damage, and on a critical hit, you would do a base of 57. Assuming as a Cra, you have 1/2 critical hits, every three turns in 1.28, you would do an 82.5 average base damage. Assuming as a Cra, you have 1/2 critical hits, every three turns in 1.29, you would be doing 137.5 average base damage. That's if we counted the first shot (the weakest) as a critical hit, too! Even if the odds are up against the newest Punitive Arrow, it still averages more damage. Also note that the critical hit rate has been lowered in 1.29 from 1/40 to 1/30, this is according to you. This means you can focus less on critical equipment, and more on Strength. Sophidian ^^ This post has been edited by Sophidian: 30 Sep 2009, 12:04 |

But well I agree that pre 1.29 Cras were (very) weak. However with 1.29 from my point of view this has changed and if you look a bit what other high level Cras think most of them agree that their class got a good buff. Well I am sorry that you dont enjoy playing your Cra but I also think that you dont use the full potential of it. For the 5 min range, Lashing? -3MP undodgeable. Oh hey you can also cast it at range 1 and it does earth dmg. Poison Arrow? Min range = 2. ohohoho Also you need a pretty huge obstacle to block the Cra from using Dispersing as you can target the spell two squares beside the target. Throw in some other spells like Magic/Frozen arrow or powerful shooting and there you go. When the enemy closes in you can always use ... close combat? Oh my god yes Cras can also use close combat. I have a certain 171 pair of daggers in mind that seem to be useful for Str Cras and they hit pretty good. Well we can talk about it in /g when I come home if you like. |

Just get your fingers off the hot keys for Crit shooting, lashing, punitive and begin to learn how not to simply rely on one....single....spell..

Neither does wrath. Now please explain me why a spell with 2 buffs does less damage as it does with onebuff - like shown in the screens above. @ Karyuudan: As I said, Dispersing is no option since it needs los; meaning when an enemy is just standing at the edge of a corner you can't push him out there, simply because you can't shoot with Dispersing 'through' that obstacle. @rossi: Lashing and poisioned are really hard hitters This post has been edited by FesteringPit: 30 Sep 2009, 16:30 |

Too lazy to check but im sure the base damage isnt constant and thus a fluctuation in damage can be seen (or you lost a buff while waiting for the cooldown) |

First off i would like to thanks everyone for the support. I also would like to point out that changing my build would do nothing to help. I spent alot of hard hours gathering mats and build my set. the fact that they made puni arrow to 1/30 base crits is pointless cause it isn't a move based on crits. THAT COMPLETELY destroys the point of being a crit cra. Strength cras are nothing more then weak iops with range. I also must STRESS the point of the no close range attacks. The only spell we have for close combat is lashing arrow. and that can only be cast once per target AND is a very weak spell. Even poison arrow need the target to atleast one cell away. Another point i must stress is that Cra buffs (Tho doing huge buffs) must be recast every two turns... They where much more effective when we could cast them and acctually attack a few turns befor needing to recast. They shouldn't have made Strength cras so usless to the point where we need to change. Intell cras,Chance, and Agi Cras have been buffed so not many people understand the agony of the Strength Cra. They changed Strength cras in attempts to make the build more likeable but in the attepmt the killed it.

The average damage of Punitive Arrow was raised, even if you were a Critical Cra in 1.28, you still would have averaged less damage than a Critical Cra would now. Get a weapon if you feel that range is a problem.
