New community manager ehh?
So we now have a new community manager, but he (or she?) really hasn't done anything yet now has he (or she?)? Will the situation change or will this new CM just be sipping coffee and laughing at us trolls.

There has been an actual update on the EN Devblog (which last saw a post in 2008). Arguably Ankama shouldn't need a CM to actually do that (it's a job for the translation dept), but Ankama seem to have a history of only doing so when the CM nudges them to do so. Unfortunately, this is often the lowest hanging fruit... used by CMs to put "their mark" on the community... but eventually forgetting it.

I was also very impressed with Izmar keeping us up to date here and on Imps about the extended maintenance...before Izmar we would have been WTF!!

If you want to keep tabs on Izmar, then use the devtracker, follow her on twitter (yeah, that's right, we have a twitter like the other communities now), and while you're at it find her on Impsvillage and see what she posts there (which is usually just a mirror of what she puts here).
Izmar has done plenty for just being here for 7 working days. This post has been edited by InuzukaKiba: 1 Nov 2009, 20:04 |

Apart from fb and twitter stuff the rest was done to us before too, maybe a bit later than to other communities, but still.

I think that fact they gave us a new community manager, was yet another time stall.

I think that fact they gave us a new community manager, was yet another time stall. Disagree. Even when there isn't too much to see arleady, Izmar is doing a very good job keeping us informed about all kind of issues (see the last thread about maintenance/rollback). It just takes a bit of time until you can see more, but I think we can be very satisfied with our new CM. |

As far as I remember it's she.
And what do you expect a new CM to do for us? Nerf sacs, int iops, cha cras the next day she arrives? So far she is pretty active and keeps us to date, that's already a lot from my point of view. This post has been edited by Nikto: 1 Nov 2009, 23:04 |

I agree with the people saying Izmar doing a good job, he actually is keeping us informed and he's rather more active than the previous Community Manger in which I hated to see him leave.

I think she is doing a fine job of keeping us updated.
Remember, this is a new job, so we must be patient for her to fully learn the possibilities of what she could do for us. I notice that Izmar is also involved in the community very much so, which is excellent. -MaryMoo |

Didn't you quit? Next time you link someone's post to themselves, make sure you've actually read it yourself, because the post clearly says that eot will still stay on the forums. |

I think that fact they gave us a new community manager, was yet another time stall. Sorry, I don't comprehend this... Ankama have given us a Community Manager to aid us. We desperately needed one, too, so that our community could be organized and things could move forth. A good rule of thumb is to know at least half of what you're saying is accurately intelligent before pretending you are so. Have a nice day. -MaryMoo |

Sorry, I don't comprehend this... I think the general suggestion is that Ankama is dangling a shiny object in front of us as a pretence that they're actually interested in what we're doing. As far as I understand it, this is still a temporary CM (just for a longer term than the previous stand-in for Kaoly). Whether anything actually develops over that period depends on how long before the person in that position is switched again.

Will the situation change or will this new CM just be sipping coffee and laughing at us trolls. I don't drink coffee. To address some of the other concerns posted on this thread - I'm not a temp. I was hired to be the English CCM for the International and UK communities. I came here all the way from North America to have a long-term career, not for a few months work! When Kaoly returns, Ankama will decide how to split our duties. There is more than enough work for two people in the English community, so have no fear that we'll run out of things to do. =) I'd love to hear more about what the players would like to focus on. There's already several projects that I have in my sights (Mentors, the forums, Mods, the possibility of our own Zone 48, and so on) that are long-term jobs, and I've had lots of discussions with the mods about other hot spots that need immediate attention. There's some things that Ankama wants me to do as well - make sure that the website news is up to date, posting English articles to the devblogs, keeping the International community current on what's going on in game development, reporting on what the International community wants, creating new events for you, and so on. All that to say... if you can think of something that our community needs, let me know! -------------------- Important and Useful Links Support <<>> Terms of Service <<>> Forum Rules <<>> Community Site <<>> Game Guide |

I don't drink coffee. Aha! But you do laugh at us trolls! QUOTE All that to say... if you can think of something that our community needs, let me know! Well there has been this great game development thread going for a while now with a lot of contributors: http://forum.dofus.com/en/game-development...ist-t80447.html Could let us know if any of these ideas are making it into the game? While I have the chance I will shamelessly link to my own thread as well: http://forum.dofus.com/en/game-development...ers-t74278.html Maybe you could make a weekly/monthly CM-blog of stuff from the forums that made it into discussions with the devs? |

Haha yay I managed to make you post in this topic 1) International Zone 48!! 2) Mentors - after Kaoly falling ill they disappeared and quality of their posts dropped (not all, some), but you already are working on this project so thats good. Possibly start recruiting new mentors? 3) Clean the forums from spam etc. 4) Clean the Talk to the Dofus team section and make it to what it originally was supposed to be used for 5) I'm myself interested if the long awaited Ice Continent will be aimed for higher levelled players For those who still didn't read the whole post related to my quitting and come back: QUOTE Meh I decided I still have to post on the forums Heh well the topic got locked and I forgot about it so didnt really mention I'm back playing. After my small come back I really didn't play that much and now I finally stopped again. This post has been edited by daksfd: 3 Nov 2009, 16:17 |

I am not entirely sure exactly what the role of CM encompasses, other then letting the International community know what is going on, and perhaps relay the international communities concerns to the Ankama team. Even if it is just these two things, that is a huge boon for us, and I for one appreciate it.
I, too, am eager to find out if the much anticipated Ice Continent will be geared toward the epic level players and perhaps if after 2.0 comes out it will be more months |
