Cant take on staff mage? So I have lvl 75 lumberjack, lvl 66 staff carver and miner is lvl 16. I have this horrible feeling that im going to have to level miner to 30 before i can take on staff mage specialisation. Is this true??

I think you're correct about this.

I would level the miner first anyway though. The miner will be more useful quicker than the staff carvemagus and you still can do the carvemagus pretty soon anyway. The specializations don't take up profession slots, but rather have their own slots.

Yes you will have to get miner to 30 before magus can be learned (just to confirm Laz's 'I think' answer)

lol i had the same problem with lumberjack its so annoying
