annoying dofus pervs Okay this is a rant about how annoying it is to be a girl in this MMORPG...

I play as my female sram usually and enjoy this game a lot from its wide variety of options but I find it annoying when im in the middle of training and some stupid nerd comes up to me and says "hey nice ass" or "wanna cyber" stuff like that......
I think its so annoying how some of them follow me around also even if I reject them -.-'
I hope the mods make a rule against sexual harassment soon because its makes me not want 2 play as much....

As a female who has been on the internet for eight years now.... It is the same everywhere. Back on the IRC, a/s/l was practically the first thing any guy said to anyone they were talking to. If you actually confessed to being a girl, the /msgs would start instantly. "cyber plz" "TS me" "hey baby gimme a kiss" - all that crap.

Usually, the best thing to do is ignore jackasses like that. Anyone who gets especially fresh or persistant, type /whois charactername, take a screenshot (try to include some of the harassing message - take multiple screenshots if need be), and send them in with a ticket to http://support.dofus.com

What's really funny is half the time they're probably flirting with another guy playing a female character.

What's pathetic is they are turned on by a sprite.

However, I am not trying to say that Ankama should ignore sexual harrassment. I agree with you that something needs to be done. They are interfering with your ability to enjoy yourself on the game.

Assumeing you're a f2p member... p2p lands offer much less herassment ; if infact nun-at-all? and the players are much more kinder... I find 75% + jerks and herassment is in the f2p land...

I'm a guy who plays as female characters in most things (there's a non-pervy reason for that), and I get a lot of flirting. It's deeply amusing.

Best option, really, is to level up until you're really powerful, then kill them. Until some sort of selective /ignore function is implemented, the only other option would be to type /invisible or alternatively /away to stop them from PMing you when you move to a different screen.

I played a Mithra in Final Fantasy XI and I can't tell you how much harresement I got. If anyone ever offered me money to take my clothes off, or talk dirty.. I'd say something off the wall like "My butt is squishy like a tub of jello" then take the money and wait about an hour... After that hour is up, I'd send em a message "BTW: I'm really a guy thanks for the money and the good laugh!" ... Its evil, yes.. but its really quite ammusing

I don't know if it's just because you are a sram. Female srams look very sexy, as do female Sadidas. I play as a female Iop, and I am female too. I thought the Iop looked as sexy as I needed her to be - no more and no less.

I suffer a small amount of flirting from the male players, but not much, and certainly nothing outrageous. If I did get offers, there are replies I would give or just ignore them. You can use the same put-downs as you would in real life.

Maybe, something you say encourages them in some way, even if you think it is innocent. The best way to discourage them is to log off for a few minutes. Relog and they have usually moved on to annoy someone else. Remember, most are young kids too, acting older than they are - so be careful with what you say - you could end up in a whole heap of trouble you don't need.

I run into jerks all the time in dofus. the best thing to do is either ignore them or if you're feeling confident on being more of a jerk than them to make them shut up the go for it. And trust me this method works like a charm i know from experience.

The thing is tho, alot of people changed their image files (*.dat) to make it appear certain races were nude when they had certain armor on... There is no question about the fact that harassing people in any way, male or female, is not tolerable. This happening in an "anonymous" game doesn’t make it more acceptable. The REAL problem is that these things are not consequently reported to the ones who can actually change things: SUPPORT. I bet that 80% of ranters here were too lazy to make a screenshot and send it to the mods. If real consequences follow an annoying action there is a reason not to. If the annoyed one reacts verbally in any manner what so ever, the "perv" has reached his goal. Full stop.

Actually, that depends on the game....those (somewhat exaggerated) percentages are reversed in games like The Sims Online, Second Life, There and the like and are not nearly so high anymore in more traditional games. I know a number of women who play WoW, Ultima & SWG...and I know some of them play male avatars.
You just can't make assumptions about age or gender in online games, anymore.......if you ever really could. =P

Seeing the title of this thread made me think I was about to get in trouble for saying dirty things in the /a chat. But hey, it's all in good fun.

I'm a guy. I have two.. no, three female characters, and the other one is a friggin' fairy. So, I've had my fair share of taunting.. unfortunately it's all from my RL friends, but we can save that for another day.

Really, though.. I think the best thing to do is to realize that in-game sexual harassment is much better than real-life sexual harassment, and that no tangible danger can come of this unless you cooperate with the pervs. My guess is that the author of this thread probably also has a very feminine-sounding screenname/one that gives away the fact that she is a female in real life. (I'm right, right?) If so, I'd first question your reasons for creating such a name, but you can consider that on your own time.

Second.. if someone's being a perv because you're playing a female character, and you respond in a way that lets them know that you are creeped out by their pervertedness, that will confirm to them that you are female in real life. That's the last thing you need. And if your name sounds girly, you could always say, "Dude, this is my wife's account." Alternatively, you can refuse to respond to their taunts. The one thing they want is for you to notice them. Don't give them the pleasure. If you pretend to ignore them, you'll suffer a small amount of frustration but eventually they'll run off to chase another piece of cartoon booty, and you will have saved yourself some grief in the long run.

While it is less dangerous, it isn't necessarily less hurtful or annoying.

If you choose a female character, why wouldn't you choose a name that fits? I pick names that match my character, so my female characters have feminine names, just as my male characters have masculine names. This is like saying that wearing a dress is an invitation to hoots and hollers by men since women are usually the ones to wear dresses.

If someone named their character "CheckOutMyBoobs", one could rightly argue that they are asking for attention of a sexual nature. However, if I call my female Cra "HippolytaOfTheAmazons", that's hardly an invitation to flirt (unless it's someone name "Heracles" looking for a little role-play).

While this may not ease any annoyance, it is the best thing to do (apart from taking a screenshot and sending a ticket). You can also turn off black chat and-or go /invisible to further distance yourself from them.

What I meant was, make sure you're not complaining about sexual harassment when your handle is something like "hotblondie4U" or something. Sure, you have a right to pick your own SN, but keep in mind the consequences of creating such a name.

Your comment made me think of the characters "Boobz" and "LookAtMyTits," both of whom are cool people, both of whom I've made off-color remarks to (in jest), both of whom could very possibly be guys, and both of whom I can't really say I've ever been romantically interested in. Go figure.

I will say that Boobz' sprite is pretty damn sexy though.

Im playing a female Sram too and if people start herassing me I just tell them to fuck off cause im a guy. That really helps. So if your a girl and dont like to be herrassed by all those game nerds just pretent your a guy. Or send them a picture of your friend and make them so crazy they will give you all their money and then never ever reply to them anymore ;)

Ways to get them to stop:

1. Tell them you're a guy (even if you're a girl)
2. Flirt back and get some free stuff ;)
3. If you're a high level, beat them into the ground
4. Tell them you're like, 60 years old and looking for love, then start flirting back a bit (best. solution. ever.)

My character flirts and gets flirted with by both genders, I'm buysexual (you buy me something, and I'll get sexual), and occasionally someone will observe this and start giving me crap about being a faggot...At which time I tell them to stuff it and walk away, dont folks know the difference between friendly role-playing and just plain offensiveness?

Glad you noticed that, Green. However, I beleave he was speaking generally, off-line or not. He seems too have some personal issues with this sort of herassment, as I'm sure most everyone does. There should be a sort of 'back-lash' to this herassment that people who are picked-on/focused on, should have, as a trump-card, so to speak. I'm certin there is, but I can't comup with it atm ; maybe I'm just wishfull thinking.

When I play FPS's or Morrowind, I create a female character...I just think looking at a woman's derrier while running around is so much more aesthetically pleasing. And if I take into account that she can kick just as much ass as the male sprite...keeps the enemies on their toes.

I'm 32 years old, and the graphics of the game's female characters don't exactly 'do it for me', so to speak. But looking back over the years, I probably would've found 'em a bit exciting when I was 12 or 14 years old. So I'll bet most of the offenders aren't kooky ol' pederasses, just desperate and experimental kiddy-boys.

For one, I'm a guy, and 3/5 of my characters are female. But that's pretty much just because I hate the art of most of the male ones for some reason. Especially the cra...I got nothing against the cra, but for some reason the male cra just looks absolutely ugly to me. And the male sadida...Not the most handsome male of the year award.

But besides that, yeah, the dofus perverts are very annoying, but somehow playing as a female sacrier, no one has said anything weird to me like that, but my ecaflip it's a whole other story...Actually no, it happened to me just about none of the time then too...Meh, I guess most of the perverts have just people other than me first. Ya I like flattery if its well done^^ I remeber a very long time ago I was buying stuff in the astub cave and the guy came back wth flowers and tell me I was very cute and he asked for my number (friends list).

I'm a female, but I play a male Osa, because i think Female Osa's are a bit ugly (no offence)
and anyways, male osa's look like girls too, so it doesnt really matter xD

but this way, I don't get Nasty remarks or something^^
