I'm still having doubts as to whether I want to become a Mod/GM, since I'm already playing my private Dofus account(s) and since the game is still fun, I can't see myself putting many hours a week aside to do that, besides being a Mentor now. Don't forget a Mod/GM has immense powers, and Ankama needs to know you can be trusted. Take applying to it as a job-interview, where you need an impressive resumé.

A step to take is to become a mentor, and prove that you are indeed a person willing to sacrifice your time for others' gaming pleasure.

(I don't actually know exactly how Mods/GMs get chosen, so the above is just what I find possible from what I've seen)

Lol.. it is not hard to be a MOD or a GM.. it is just time consuming and lots of dedication, but the fact of it being hard.. no way, its like riding a bike, once ya learn how its almost impossible to forget, ya stand over the bike put 1 foot on the peddle and start peddling while keeping it in balance and in control, same as being a MOD or a GM, I've been a MOD and a GM for games before Dofus even came around lol.. but my point is, the 10+ hours to get things set up its really worth it once you get it done, yes it seems like an endless process that obviously as i said wont ever end or feels like it'll never be ready, but once its done and done right and your teams of moderators or GM or both sometimes gets it set up seeing your players and friends having fun doing the event makes it worth the 10+ hours you spend doing it.. so don't back down just because the whole "10+ hours" thing is scary, if ya wanna be a mod. study the ways of being a mod get some training in real easy to do start with forums and work your way up study the rules and penalties of the game(s) you wanna be a mod for, then apply.. course it is as Zoothia said.. its a long process so grab a chair and some coffee (or something you prefer) and be prepared lol.

It's not hard to become a Moderator or a GM, it's just a lengthy and trialing process. They need to establish that you are the correct person for the job, and that can take months. I'm sure many other eligible players would love to express an interest, and so you have a little competition.

even if he did sit and wait for a lifeless bot to run by him, every just estimating, 0.5 seconds you see a bot run past a class statue.. so it wouldn't be to hard finding one.. i even for a few bots in gob dungeon..

I wish to point out two facts. I am afraid most people reading this may find them to be rather painful. To become even a moderator you must have a high level of written English. Upon reading this thread I became quite amused at the number of people who are trying to become a moderator. Perhaps the greatest bits of advice anyone can give to wannabe (amusing hyppocracy laugh.gif ) moderators is that "wanna";":p";and "MOD" are not words but in fact groups of letters and symbols that are detrimental to your chances of being hired for any position at Ankama. The second fact is, you must be 16 yearsof age to apply. I am not qualified to state these facts by any means but I do know them to be true.

I'm 18 years old and English is my native language, however I can also speak Finnish and Dutch fluently which gives me a sort of mixed accent. However an accent wont of course show up when you are writing something. For instance I am guessing that when most people guess where another member here in the forums is from they would assume they come from America or England or some other sort of native English speaking country. But this isn't always the case. I come from Australia and our native language is English. Instead of going to Highschool like the rest of my friends I went to a Linguistics University in Sydney for 4 years. Which gave me my under-graduation in being able to speak Dutch and Finnish as 2 of my natives. My reasons for choosing both those languages is mainly because Dutch isn't a very hard language to learn and it's also part of my Heritage and Finnish is regarded as around the 3rd most hardest language in the world (Arabic & Chinese before it) so I decided it would be an awesome challenge and yet very rewarding to be able to speak one of the hardest and yet 'linear' learnable languages that uses the majority of the Latin alphabet. I guess I have being articulate on my side as well, that helps when you know more then 1 language and you can speak any of them like your native.

Most people probably think "Oh well in countries like Sweden you have to speak 4 Languages minimum and you only know 3" Well that is however true, The Swedish learn a mixture of Swedish, English, French & German at school however for some reason they seem to mainly neglect Finnish which is the language spoken in a neighbouring country. Whilst the Finns learn a moderate amount of Swedish to be able to communicate with them.

Without beating around in the bush they might know 4 languages. But they probably could only have a conversation where as I could write a book in any of my 3 languages.

Now to the final point and my reason for writing up such a boring post.

Languages and Linguistics is a paid profession and you will always get work and be needed, being able to communicate with another person is (in my eyes) the most important thing in the world and if you can speak another language that helps you communicate with a larger majority of people on the planet then you have an edge against anyone else.

As for becoming a GM or a Moderator I don't think Ankama needs to hire anyone, It seems nice that they give kids the chance to be able to apply for the position but trust me they're really only going to hire someone that they know will do the job. There are times for moderating and there are times for playing your own account.

But I'll let you in on a little hint, while it is not exactly required, if you are a person who Subscribes often and actually pays to play Dofus then you'll maybe biased'ly have better chance of being accepted.

Lastly I'll remind people that being a GM is a hard job, I was a Game Moderator on Nostale(UK) before GameForge took over the whole moderating position and replaced myself and about 6 others with "Paid" employee's which in my opinion rather killed the game as I found them all rude and hard to get along with. Not to mention I found I was doing a better job and I was doing it for free. (But that is just my opinion).
In Nostale it was more of a fun thing, you had your moderating account with speedhack and teleport hack which were both legal for us and let us get around quickly to check the whole game. You had your invisibility to hide from other members to catch them scamming or swearing their heads off and you also got to arrange events. I was on my moderating account more then my actual gaming account because I found it more fun to help other players and do a duty rather then actually level up and kill stuff.
However you weren't allowed to use your GM account to spawn items for your lower level account which sadly 1 or 2 did, however they just had their right stripped from them.

Being a GM is a confidential job as well, don't think you'll get to boast the majority of your work with your game-friends. I wasn't allowed to, I couldn't even sometimes provide hints.

That's all I want to say and good luck if you seriously are interested in taking it on as a mini-unpayed job because you know what they say the man who loves his job never has to work a day in his life.

*watchs Zeptinune's ego fly through the roof* xD very nice though.. I only know japanese and english being my native language as well.. so only 2 for me ;.; but being a MOD/GM or anything part of a gamers team is a lot of fun guys if you guys want to try it and maybe some of you will get somewhere, go for it.. I only give you a few words of advice make sure it's what you wanna do first.. you may like the game and people playing it and the forums but remember behind the doors of the game is a factory of busy people.. its not hard work but its work for people that are willing to put forward and help out as much as possible.. don't become a team member if you don't plan on scruffing forward some work and some time at the computer xD good luck to anyone that try's or is trying.. i wish thee the best

Hah. I agree with you medgix, we don't need new GM's at the moment. And if we need, Ankama will take care of it. There is plenty of people who wants that job.

I agree that you shouldn't expect to get moderator by using incorrect grammar. I would enjoy being staff simply because i enjoy helping people and the game. I've been playing this game for around 3 and 1/2 years its a wonderful game. I believe the staff can make or break a game though considering yes Ankama does the updates and game programing, but the staff takes care the ingame aspect. So if you just want mod for the title please to ever expect to obtain it.

Thank You,
Davi

Just a side note.

Moderator, Game Master and Mentor applications are closed. The last application which was open was for the newly introduced mentor role and that was quite a long time ago. Also be aware that due to the absence of Kaoly, applications won't be open for a long time. This is due to the fact that it is part of the Community Managers role to recruit new volunteers.

Not exactly true. Yes the process is a long one but you need a good application and following interviews will be judged whether you're appropriate. A fine selection make it through(If I may say so myself wink.gif ) But there is never any harm in applying when they open in the future!

GMs and Moderators are all volunteers... meaning we don't get paid. We take time out of our game playing and personal lives to try and benefit the community and the players. For those of us that are moderators and GMs, well I guess that is all the payment we need or we wouldn't be doing this.

My Opion:
I agree with you, without the customer service from the staff alot of players would quit the game. If you have very poor customer service(staff) you will have alot of very unhappy customers(gamers), and in order to give your best support to your customers you need to listen and be help the player. A GameMaster/Moderator must be able to answer all of the problems and or questions that any player(s),and if there not able to answer or solve the problem they find the answer. Many people who wish to become a GM/MOD, I think don't understand that it is not a joke or something really cool to tell your friends. Being a GM/MOD is a good feeling and something to be happy about simply becase it means you are trustworthy and responsible, but it does not mean fun and games. The role of a GM/MOD is a serious part to the way of life on Dofus and the Forums and requires alot of your personal life and time, if you are ready for this task of luck.

P.S.:
I myself also do wish to become a GM I have been playing this game off and on for about 5+ years, but I do know this game very well. The reason I want to become a GM/MOD is so that I may be of some help to the players of Dofus and the Forums. Like many others during my gameplay I've been scammed, hacked, and forced to make a new account due to hackers. Also during my time I've had countless trials and adventours and along the way have helped many players. Customer Service is something that I myself personally excels in, I have extensive experience in the field. If there are any issues that a player needs help with I will do my best to solve if I am unable to solve the issue at hand I will seek out the answer amongst my peers(fellow GM and MODS) to solve the issue.

Thanks for Listening,
Juvon
