[Changelog] Version 2.9.0 - December 11, 2012 Enormous props to our volunteer translators for their invaluable assistance with this changelog!

Achievements

A new achievement system allows players to unlock cosmetic rewards, gain resources, kamas or experience by challenging players to (re)discover the majority of the content in game and by offering new goals. More than 800 differents achievements are already present in game. A Devblog article on this subject is also available here: Achievement Devblog Article

Character Personalization

New characters will now have the possibility to choose from 8 different faces. Characters created before the 2.9.0 update will be able to pick a new face on their first connection to the 2.9.0 version. Faces can also be changed via the use of an Ogrine service.

New Very High Level Sets

New very high level sets and a few independents objects have been added and may be crafted.

Titles and Ornaments

A new interface is added for the management of Titles and Ornaments, allowing for their preview. The Ornament system allows for the graphic personalization of the appearance of character names when characters are hovered over. These new cosmetic rewards are unlocked through completed achievements and allow for the most important successes accomplished by your characters to be displayed in game.

Resource Maturity

Ungathered resources now gain a 4% hourly bonus to both the harvested quantity and related profession XP. The maximum bonus is 200%. This bonus is represented by the displayed stars seen while hovering over resources.

Average prices in the interfaces

  • The average prices (calculated from completed market and merchant mode sales) are now integrated into the mouse-over tooltip of an item in the inventory, exchange, craft, reward, etc. interfaces. The estimated price of item stacks is also calculated.
  • The inventory now displays an estimate (based on the average prices) of the total value of the displayed items in your inventory. The different filters of the inventory allow estimating the prices of different sets of items.
  • A devblog article is available on this subject: Average Price Display

Kolossium

  • Premade teams registering for a Kolossium fight now have a maximum authorized level gap between characters of the team. This maximum difference is fixed to 50.
  • The time delay before two teams may face each other again in a Kolossium fight has been reduced from 60 to 30 minutes.
  • It is now possible to spectacte Kolossium fights from inside the Kolossium building.
  • Transformed characters (in Jack O’ Gobball for example) can no longer register for a Kolossium fight.
  • A message is now displayed when a character is automatically unregistered from a Kolossium fight after being transformed or entering a dungeon.

Spell Points

  • The NPC Vladimur Millo, located in the Kolossium building, allows exchanging unnatural spell points (those obtained from Spell Point Scrolls) for 1000 Kolossokens. This change allows to transfer such unnatural spell points between characters or to exchange excess spell points for Kolossokens to be used for other rewards.
  • The NPCs located in the class temples now offer forgetting a spell in exchange for Doploons equivalent to one single Dopple fight’s rewards. Completing the quest “An excessive baker’s dozen” therefore allows to forget up to 30 spells.

Kerub

  • Kerub Crepin offers new quests to adventurers visiting his boutique in Astrub, at the god Ecaflip’s statue.
  • Kerub Crepin, the magic object merchant, is in the midst of taking stock. While browsing his boutique, the curious may learn about new legendary objects that can be made by craftsmen.

Optimisation and performance

  • The DOFUS client now uses the 2.6 version of Adobe Air. This modification potentially allows for performance and memory improvements of the DOFUS client. This upgrade will make the 2.9.0 DOFUS client incompatible with Windows 2000, Mac OS 10.4 and any Mac machines using a PPC processor. Since the compatibility options interface of the DOFUS client has become obsolete, it has now been removed.
  • In the performance options, the creature mode limit has been simplified. A limit of 0 (zero) has been added, allowing for the creature mode to be permanently activated outside of fights.
  • In the performance options, in low quality, the scenery is always cached.
  • Changing the game’s quality setting in the options menu while on the login screen now correctly changes the animation frequency of items in the slideshow.

Interfaces

  • The tooltips displayed when mousing over characteristics in the characteristics menu are updated and uniformed.
  • When creature mode is activated, characters are displayed properly in the equipment interface.
  • The character displayed in the level-up popup once again plays its animation and sound.
  • When moving to another major area (from Astrub to Incarnam, for example), the landmarks of the previous area are no longer displayed in the minimap of the current area.
  • The selection of the shortcut bar is now saved between client sessions.
  • The text of objectives displayed in the quest menu no longer disappears when trying to locate the objective multiple times.
  • When creating a character, the secondary character bonus is displayed correctly if the account already has several characters of identical level.
  • The conquest areas are no longer displayed twice in the conquest interface.
  • The experience bonus for secondary characters is correctly taken into account for the preview of experience gained from quests or monsters following a disconnection and reconnection.
  • The spouse interface no longer displays the spouse as offline if they aren’t.
  • The element of poisons of the type “HP lost for every AP/MP used” is now displayed properly in the spell properties.
  • The display of the characteristics Lock and Dodge is modified: the base characteristics are now those obtained via agility and the bonus characteristics are now only those from actual lock or dodge bonuses.
  • The icon signalling that a character has entered an area reserved to subscribed accounts is no longer distorted.
  • In the tutorial selection interface, the displayed objects now show a complete item information tooltip on mouseover.
  • In the map interface, opening the menu tree of the aligned areas works correctly.
  • In the alignment interface, all ranks of all alignments have an image shown on the right side.
  • In the custom set interface, mousing over an item displays a complete info tooltip.
  • Selling items to an NPC works correctly if the character possesses less kamas than he would gain from the sale.
  • The interfaces for selection and creation of characters are graphically improved in order to be more intuitive.
  • If an NPC offers 5 responses in their dialogue, all options are now displayed in the same dialogue box.
  • If the custom gauge around the central medallion displays the guild experience upon connection, and is then set to display Pods instead, opening the guild interface will no longer reset the custom gauge to guild experience.
  • Exchanges work properly after an attempt to enter a house or open a chest with a wrong code.
  • The title of a character is now displayed in the characteristics interface.
  • In NPC shops, the names of items are scaled better if the price is displayed in tokens.
  • The keyboard shortcuts are displayed correctly when mousing over the buttons in the menu bar at the bottom of the client.
  • In the interface for organising one’s merchant, modifying the quantity of an object for sale works properly.
  • The spouse interface correctly displays the spouse’s information upon their connection.
  • In the interface for advanced or automatic selection of the server, accounts of the English-speaking and International communities are now offered the servers of these two communities.
  • In the character creation interface, the text of the confirmation button now adjusts to the context (either creation or modification of a character).
  • In the inventory, double-clicking a pet while riding a mount makes the character dismount.
  • The set interface works properly for items whose bonuses are hidden.
  • In the world map interface, all filters are active by default, with the exception of conquest territories.
  • In the character creation interface while in restricted mode, returning to the character selection is now possible after an attempt to modify a character.
  • In the character creation interface while changing a name, the colours of the character are displayed properly if he’s using a mount.

Chat Interface

  • When a character sends a private message containing several items that they don't own, the message properly displays the correct items.
  • In advanced mode, a right click on the tabs now allows for the choice of displayed channels.
  • In the contextual menu of the chat interface, clicking on the star (on the left) displays the channel shortcuts as well as their names.

Sellrooms

  • When the DOFUS black theme is enabled, and while browsing the sellrooms, when a batch is purchased or a new batch is put up for sale, the new batch is displayed with the correct text colour.
  • In selling mode, the Enter shortcut allows for the removal of an item from the sellroom.
  • In the soul stone sellrooms, the search and selection of a monster's name works properly.

Inventory

  • When doing a massive transfer of items, if a stack of items cannot be fully transferred, the maximum number of item is instead transferred.
  • When an inventory filter is selected through one character and another character is then logged in but does not possess any item corresponding to that filter, the filter “All types” is then used.
  • The removal of the last object of a selected category now opens the general category.

Fights

  • When a member of a player party starts a fight, a message is displayed in the chat with the name of that character and the map where the combat has started. If a character reaches that map (or if they're already there when it starts) a pop-up opens, asking if they want to directly join the fight. This change allows to ease joining a combat when it is hidden by scenery, monsters or other characters.
  • The experience preview when hovering over a group of monsters is now more accurate.
  • The experience bonus brought by the secondary character system is now correctly accounted for after a disconnection, then a reconnection for the preview of experience from quests and monsters groups.
  • The size allocation of mobs is improved on very small maps (especially in the Dreggon Sanctuary).
  • Challenge requests between characters are no longer abnormally cancelled when others characters on the same map cancel their own challenge requests.
  • The Incarnam Poutch may no longer block a fight if he doesn’t pass his turn.
  • The position of characters that are carried by a Pandawa and dropped on a Repelling Trap is now correctly managed and updated for all participants.
  • Spectators of a fight may no longer appear in the Timeline during the preparation phase.
  • Characters were sometime abnormally absent from the end-of-fight screen. This bug has been fixed.
  • The warning message used when it isn’t possible to capture a monster on a map has been improved.
  • Tactical mode scenery blocks are now properly handled when transparent mode is enabled.
  • The MP loss on invisible targets is correctly displayed in the combat chat.
  • HP transfers are correctly displayed in the combat chat.
  • The combat chat does not display blank html tags when certain states are applied.
  • Targeting and movement ranges are no longer displayed above targets coming out of invisibility.
  • Pressing the shortcut “P” in order to display the names of characters in a fight no longer crashes the client if certain characters are dead.
  • The preview of experience gained from monsters is now correctly taken into account the percentage of experience given to the guild, if the guild interface has not yet been opened.
  • The mismatch of AP/MP values between DOFUS clients is corrected when characters are benefiting from an AP/MP bonus that runs out at the end of their turn.
  • When a character suffers a global cooldown period that is dependent on the level of the spell, the cooldown displayed now depends on the level of their own spell and not on the level of the spell caster.
  • The life bar on the central medallion no longer exceeds a character’s maximum HP value when an HP reducing effect ends after the character was healed.
  • When in creature mode, a person who has been turned into a tree (via the spell Sylvan Power) is now displayed as a traditional character sprite.
  • The combat sword now appears correctly on the map.
  • The number of fighters in the timeline now displays properly when the option “Do not show fighters who have been killed in the timeline” is selected.

There has been an oversight in the writing of the 2.9 changelog, which led to an important line of information being left out of the final version.

      • The Jellix Set has been removed from the loot tables of all Jelly monsters.

This change has been added for two simple reasons:

The majority of equippable items in DOFUS have all been craftable for several years now, and although we want to continue to make it possible to drop some sets that cater to beginning DOFUS players (such as the Adventurer set, Piwi sets, Gobball set, etc), we feel that the Jellix set is aimed at players who have have the opportunity to discover the crafting and trading systems of the game. This means that to have this set continue to drop from monsters while other sets of similar power and level are crafting-only is inconsistent.

In addition, this change is meant to increase interest in the Jellith Dimension Dungeon. Before now, players who were interested in getting a Gelano only needed to farm Strawberry Jellies, but now it will be necessary to complete the Jellith Dimension Dungeon to gather the materials to craft a Gelano.

The developers deeply apologize for the omission of this important change from the 2.9 changelog.

Update: To be completely clear, several other sets have also been removed from the loot tables: The Kitsou set, the Prespic set, the Aerdala, Terrdala, and Akwadala sets are no longer droppable when killing monsters. The Feudala set can still be dropped, for now.

This was implied in a line of the changelog below:
      • The level, experience and characteristics of the following monsters have been modified in order to make the zones in which they dwell more interesting and better adapted to the level of characters they are intended for. Some spells have been modified, added or removed. In addition, the maximum number of identical objects that can be dropped from these monsters by a team is now infinite (It was already the case for some of the monsters in this list) and some loot has been added or removed.
But we're making it more clear to prevent confusion.

Following a sharp player's observation, we noticed another item in the 2.9 changelog that was inadvertently left out:

      • Profession scrolls no longer drop from monsters.

Lichen reports that this change was motivated by the desire to continue to make it more difficult for bots to easily collect and hoard valuable items, and they are working on a way to re-introduce these scrolls into the game. Profession experience scrolls are still available as rewards for certain game quests.
